June 30, 2013
Three people were killed and scores injured in running battles between supporters and opponents of Egypt’s Islamist President last night, two days before huge demonstrations are due to mark his first year in office.
A 21-year-old American died after being stabbed in the chest while taking photographs on a mobile phone near President Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood offices in Alexandria, which were set on fire in an attack. One report said that he had been employed by the American cultural centre in the city.
There were two other deaths in the city, including an Egyptian who died of a gunshot wound.
