Tanks ready for Cairo rallies against President Morsi
June 29, 2013
Egypt’s opposition reacted with fury last night after the Islamist President rejected calls for compromise in the face of growing protests against his rule.
With the first anniversary of his presidency approaching on Sunday, supporters and opponents of Mohamed Morsi are planning mass rallies in separate suburbs of Cairo today. The biggest yet is scheduled for the anniversary, with tens of thousands of campaigners from the so-called Rebel group expected to gather in the Egyptian capital. The group claims to have 15 million signatures calling for the President’s immediate resignation.
